Woodbine Community School District's nomination for Girl Power on Display through the AAUW is Adeline Makey! . Adeline is a bright, kind-hearted student who brings light and joy to everyone around her. She has an incredible sense of humor and a gift for finding the good in every situation, even when life is hard. Adeline is truly a friend to all, always going out of her way to include others and make them feel valued and seen. In July 2024, she experienced the heartbreaking loss of her uncle Andy, someone she shared a deeply special bond with through their love of music and their shared ability to make others smile. This loss was devastating, yet Adeline showed a level of strength and resilience that is rare at any age. Despite her grief, she continued to lead with kindness, sing her heart out, and care for those around her. She has handled this challenge with grace and maturity far beyond her years. Adeline is so deserving of this recognition, not only for the incredible person she is, but for the strength, compassion, and quiet courage she shows every day. Congratulations Adeline! #unparalleled #woodbinetigeractivites

Congratulations to Senior, Adalynn Coenen. She was awarded the Iowa Governor's Scholarship Award for 2026. Iowa’s top academic students have been chosen by their member schools for the Governor’s Scholar Program. The Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and its title sponsor, the Iowa Farm Bureau, are presenting this recognition, which began in 2003.
The seniors being honored have been selected by their high schools as the highest academic achievers. Students receive a photo plaque from the ceremony and a certificate to commemorate their achievement.
The largest 64 schools in Iowa, according to the Iowa Department of Education BEDS document, were invited to select two seniors who are the highest academic achievers. All other schools were invited to select one senior who is the highest academic achiever. #WoodbineTigerPride #IowaGovernorsScholarAward

Who’s ready to meet our next Woodbine standout? Say hello to Brenden Wagner — Class of 2026. Proud parents: Brian, Tonya & Crystal Wagner. Siblings: Corey (16), Devin (13), and Bayleigh (9). Brenden’s favorite memory: beating Gladbrook in the football state semi-finals — what a moment! After graduation, he’s headed to Iowa State to study athletic training, and in 10 years, he hopes to be working in the NFL or MLB with a family by his side. Fun fact: he loves baseball. His advice to underclassmen: “Have fun while it lasts because 4 years is over in the blink of an eye.” #WoodbineClassOf2026 #SeniorSpotlight #IowaStateBound #AthleticTraining #CommunityPride
