We are excited to announce a new parking guideline designed to improve safety and efficiency during drop-off and pick-up times. We are calling this "Paws for Parents!" To better accommodate our families, we have designated specific parking stalls along 5th Street for parent drop-off and pick-up only. These stalls are marked with paw prints and are located by the elementary ramp on the southeast side and in front of the preschool doors towards the southwest side of the building. By using these designated stalls, you can help ensure the safety of our students and staff while also reducing traffic congestion along 5th Street. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these new guidelines and to use them consistently.

Good afternoon! In an effort of transparency, we are communicating the following incident today to keep parents and guardians informed.
Today, towards the end of the school day, we held a community wide blood drive and a member of our community came to the school to give blood. An individual thought they recognized a weapon in the persons front pocket. The community member was immediately confronted to determine if there was a weapon. The individual stated they had forgotten there was a weapon. Law enforcement was contacted immediately and based on the questions posed to the person, it was obvious and immediate, there was not a credible threat and the community member had no intent on harming students or staff. The community member was apologetic and remorseful for doing this.
The community member does have a valid conceal to carry permit, however this is just a reminder to all, weapons cannot be carried on to school grounds. Keeping students safe is very important to us. We would like this to serve as a reminder to all that even with a conceal to carry permit, you cannot have a weapon on school grounds. Unfortunately there are additional law enforcement steps that now need to be taken. We understand this is a difficult thing to communicate but wanted parents and guardians to be informed of the facts in this situation. Just to be clear, there is no current threat to students or staff within the WCSD. Thanks for your understanding.
