We are excited to welcome Mrs. Deb Barry to our educational team at IGNITE. She will be the Early Childhood Education Instructor & English Validator. With a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, endorsements in Early Childhood Education and Reading, and a Master’s in Special Education, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience—22 years in PreK-6 classrooms across Iowa, Nebraska, and Arizona. Her commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment is commendable. Fun fact: Deb follows her husband Jason wherever life’s journey takes them, and they cherish their family, including kids Jacki, Cassi, Matt, and Aaron, along with grandkids Kingston and Jaivyn.

We are thrilled to introduce Mrs. Marley Hilpipre as a full time substitute at WCSD. She am thrilled to announce that she am starting her first year as a 1st-grade teacher while Mrs. Schaben is on maternity leave! As a proud graduate of Woodbine High School (Class of 2020) and Creighton University with a degree in Elementary Education, she has completed her ESL endorsement and is pursuing her Master's Degree.

Marley's experience includes practicum assignments in various Omaha Public Schools and a rewarding student teaching experience in first grade at WCS. She is eager to apply her passion for education and make a positive impact in students' lives.

On a personal note, her husband Brady and her reside in Woodbine with their 18-month-old daughter, Monroe, who loves to cheer "GO TIGERS!!"

Meet our new HS Spanish teacher, Mrs. Patricia Diaz. She is thrilled to reflect on her teaching journey! With a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Mathematical Sciences, and a Secondary Teaching Certificate, I've dedicated years to education—from university to secondary schools. After 13 years in a challenging center, I'm now teaching high schoolers in Woodbine. Family is everything—my husband Ulises and our three daughters are my biggest supporters! She is very grateful for the support of my wonderful community and family! Welcome Mrs. Diaz to Woodbine and we are glad you are here. #woodbinetigerpride

Let's give a warm welcome to Sarah Jacobsen, one of our new full-time substitute teacher at WCSD! With an Associate's from Iowa Western Community College and a BA in Elementary Education from WGU, she brings a wealth of experience, having worked in an early childhood program and as a para-educator.

School begins August 25th, 2025. Please note that the first two days of school are 1:30 early outs.
The first day of school for Pre-kindergarten students is Sept. 2nd.
Also, there will be an open house for all PK-12 grade students and parents on Thursday, Aug. 21st. We will follow a similar process as last year in encouraging attendance alphabetically. If your last name begins with A-M, please try to attend from 4:00 - 5:00. If your last name begins with N-Z, please try to attend from 5:00-6:00.
